Default 2010 Olympics

I totally forgot about the winter Olympics until today and then shortly thereafter I heard that there was a fatal accident on the luge run.

My respects and thoughts go out to Nodar Kumaritashvili's family.

I've always enjoyed watching some luge and bob sled events. Many many years ago I got a chance to go down the bobsled run in Davos a few times, loved it and can understand why people who love speed participate in the sport. I guess creating the "World's Fastest Run" left some aspects out of the calculations.

How will this affect the Games?

It is a very sand event and not so good a way to start the Olympic games. I hope the rest is better. I am very disapointed to know that we (Canadians) have created a site that might be so dangerous.

Yes it was a tragic thing to happen.

I watched the opening ceremonies last night, beautifully done and all very Canadian.

We taped it last night and watched it this afternoon. I like it.

The opening ceremonies were last night!
I watched on TV, it was amazing! I especially loved the orca and the forest part. I was horrified when the fourth piller on the cauldron didn't come up, I can't believe it didn't work! It was a bit embaressing. There was some kind of hydrolic problem with the trap door in the floor.

The sports are starting today, already a few records have been broken! Short track speed skating broke a speed record, and there was also another record in Womens hockey for most points (18 to 0)

The short track 1500 final last night was a fantastic race, the best I remember seeing. Tragic for the Koreans but lucky for the Americans.

I get to watch curling tomorrow,I am really excited! I also have tickets to Canasda vs. Switzerland hockey and ? vs. ? hockey. On Friday I will watch freestyle skiing, that looks really neat on TV, I can't wait to see it!

I only get to see the Olympics once in a while and when ever I do it seems to be curling. Not the most glamourous of events, but for me very amusing as I still find it funny that it is an olympic event.

Since living in the US I still get annoyed that so many events that I would love to watch don't get shown often or just when it's exciting it gets cut-off to show the end of some event that I don't care about.
