Doc, beautiful, especially the cock of the rock, that is a bird I would love to have in a large aviary, along with some other tropical small fruit and seed eaters. There are two species, one is the Andean cock of the rock which has a black body and wings with a bright red head, shoulders and tail, and the Guianan cock of the rock which is almost solid red with only small black marks on the wings. In both species the females are duller orange to brown with no head crest, I have seen some that were yellow instead of red, but I think this is a abberent color pattern rather then a normal one. The San Diego Zoo has several of both species in very large fully closed rainforest greenhouses, simply beautiful birds.

Thanks Phil , I still remember the moment I purchased this beautiful bird . When I had been to Atlanta in 2007 , I found this exotic and wonderful bird in the underground market . What attracted me most is the shape of the bird and it's vibrant colours . Above all , the speciality of this figurine is that it is MADE IN PERU , authentic hand made with very minute details , partly ceramic and partly clay , brilliantly hand painted . I would say it's a rare piece in my collections . With this bird , I picked up few other critters as well , all made in Peru and I treasure them so carefully .
