Brontosaurus DID NOT have feathers, since skin prints of sauropds clearly show scales. And it seams stegosauruses had scales too, since no prints around their fossils shown feather-like structures.

But RAPTORS had feathers, because traces around their fossils clearly shown it. Caudipteryx also had feathers, and very long ones (black traces were very long around the arms).

But of course raptors didn't evolve directly into birds: they were just very close relatives to the true ancestors of the birds, like Archeopteryx or Confuciusornis.

They look pretty alike to me, even with different patterns.
