Default 2011 Rugby World Cup

Anybody watching the 2011 Rugby World Cup? I have watched a few games but since I know very very little about the rules and how its played it makes for some confusing tv watch. I am trying very hard to make sense of it. So far all I have to say is that you have to be nuts to play the game, it looks painful.

Makes American Football look namby pamby, especially with all that protective gear they have, and the comparatively little amount of time they do anything on the field. Hockey seems more straightforward.

Rugby rules aren't that more complicated that Football rules - they were developed at the same time (and at the same school - Rugby). You just have to remember that you can't pass the ball forwards, and that if you score a try (get the ball over the oponent's line), you can then 'convert' it, which means having a go at kicking the ball imbetween the tall bars.

I've never got to the bottom of the scrum rules however, even after participating at school. Apologies if I haven't use the right terms - I'm no expert.

Thanks Nick, I had figured that much already....I'm getting to understand it a little more. The comentators are doing a good job explaining. I actually enjoy watching it now.

It appears the French weren't that bad after all ;) Should of heard the press here when Wales didn't win.

I watched the last 10 minutes of the final. It was interesting.
