The plastic models are solid while the lead figures are hollowcast. All of the older Britains line, these included, were manufactured in England.

Excellent collection. The 901 Indian elephant is a rarity, especially in good condition, and you have three of them!

Yes, these were all made in England. It wasn't until the late 1980s, when the company was sold, that Britains figures were made in Hong Kong. By that time the zoo line was completely discontinued.

How were the baby ones sold? What kinds of packaging?

but you still have one plastic african juvenile to collect!
It was sold as a set with a little boy feeding it, and Im sorry I cant find a picture of it, but it exists!
But awesome collection!

Great to see them all together! I have only 4 elephants, three juveniles and an adult Indian. Britains are the best, in my opinion!

Don't Britains manufacturer exist anymore?

Wow, beautiful collection!
I had the Asian elephant with its trunk curled upwards, when I was little. Aw, I wish I had known then, that it would become a collector's item. Now it has no ears and no tusks anymore :frown:
